“AMBEX broadened my perspective on faith, reason, and culture”

“Fresh Bretzel, Bratwurst mit Sauerkraut, Regensburg, Bayern, Deutsche Bahn, historic cities, museums, Christkindlmarkt with cobblestone streets covered by snow, and new friends are just a few of the things I miss most about my time studying in the American Bavarian exchange program (AMBEX). My name is Aaron. When I attended AMBEX during the fall of 2010, I was a junior at Columbia International University, studying the humanities and Bible. Being a student of the humanities, I have an immense interest in the cultures, histories, and intellectual movements of Europe, but especially the history and culture of Germany. AMBEX provided me with the unique opportunity to pursue my academic interests while traveling to key historical and cultural locations throughout Germany and neighboring countries. Furthermore, the program challenged me to grow through my studies and interactions with fellow students, professors, and the German people; it broadened my perspective on faith, reason, and culture and created in me a desire to better understand the role of the gospel in society. Because of its faculty, curriculum, and study tours, AMBEX provides a comprehensive educational experience. I am certain that my time with AMBEX will continue to influence my life and vocational decisions, and I am grateful for the directors, professors, and others who continue to assist the growth and success of the program. And to all students interested in a semester abroad, I highly recommend AMBEX.”
